Week 7: Preparing for Players


What's up readers! This week we've been continuing to prepare Double Dare Derby's Alpha prototype. This includes updating our level design, importing new assets, and refining our mechanics. Let's hear more about them!

New Character Model 🐀

Our art team has completed a new character model along with updated animations. These changes help make the character movement look more like skating and showcases what the player is actually doing during interactions. Here is a sneak peak:

Updated UI 👀

We have been refining our UI to better communicate the current player state and game state. We've added the redesigned adrenaline meters, power up elements, speed line boosts, and a few changes to the existing elements. We're still explore and testing ways to better communicate what's going on, such as in the tutorial.


Level Changes 🗺️

The map has increased in size! Players still spawn at different ends of the map and make their way to the crown in the center. However, this time, we placed more ramps and elevated heights to add more variety to the level. Gems and trashcans with power ups are scattered throughout.
